Davies Howe LLP is looking for an exceptional student to join our Land Use Development, Expropriation and Litigation teams for the summer of 2026.
Our Land Use Development team advises clients on a broad range of land use and real estate development approvals. We regularly act for developers and landowners on matters ranging from large-scale development applications for residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use projects, to applications facilitating small-scale infill projects. Our lawyers appear regularly before the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) to adjudicate disputes with municipalities regarding development proposals.
Davies Howe LLP represents clients throughout Toronto and southern Ontario and is consistently listed as one of the top three development law firms by the development industry publication Novae Res Urbis.
Our Expropriation team represents property and business owners that are confronted with an expropriation. Our group regularly appears before the Ontario Land Tribunal to ensure fair compensation for affected property owners.
Our Litigation group represents clients at various levels of the Courts with a focus on insurance defence, employment and general commercial litigation. Our litigation group also represents clients in complex litigation related to land development and real property matters including Court Applications, appeals of OLT decisions and other challenges of municipal decisions.
Learning opportunities include:
- Working directly alongside partners and associates at tribunal hearings and before the courts, including the preparation of originating processes, affidavits, witness statements and hearing documents;
- Assisting with examinations for discovery, witness preparation meetings, hearings and mediations;
- Revising and updating agreements relating to a variety of matters associated with the practice of land development law and litigation; and
- Conducting legal research on matters of evolving law and land use policies.
Our student will have direct contact with clients while at Davies Howe.
