David is a partner who practices in the firm’s litigation group. He focuses primarily on insurance-related matters, but maintains a varied practice, including employment law and property loss claims. He was called to the Ontario Bar in June 2011.
Prior to joining Davies Howe in 2019, David held roles as in-house counsel for an international financial services company and as plaintiff counsel at a boutique personal injury law firm.
David’s experience working on both sides of the table gives him unique insight into his litigation files. His ability to consider problems from the opposite side’s perspective allows David to deliver expeditious and cost-effective solutions for both his public and private sector clients.
David is also a mediator.
David is trilingual, able to assist clients in English, French and Spanish.
Mediation
Over more than a decade of law practice focused exclusively on litigation, David has acted both for Plaintiffs and Defendants in hundreds of legal disputes. These disputes have dealt with diverse areas of law, including property and casualty insurance, life and health insurance, employment disputes, product liability, and other civil and commercial litigation matters. David has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario and he has learned from these experiences that mediation provides a degree of control, flexibility, cost savings and convenience to litigants that the court system simply does not.
David strives to achieve the best possible outcome for his clients by understanding the legal and factual underpinnings of the dispute and by digging down to get a better appreciation of the parties’ true interests and motivations. David takes pride in being up-to-date on the latest developments in the law to facilitate the resolution of disputes in the most timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner possible.
